Incorporated in 2000, Brewster Healthcare Group Inc. delivers a unique service to the community. From the outset, our mission was—and remains—to provide quality, home-like services to those who need care. Seniors and those facing mental challenges deserve to live with dignity, respect and compassion.

CEO and President John Brewster, BSc PCPA saw the need for transitional homes where aging seniors can move from assisted living to complex care without having to move from place to place.

With this in mind, John set out to create such a vision.

Corporate Profile

With this vision in mind, the structure of the company revolves around caring for every individual who moves into one of our homes.

The company is privately owned by John Brewster, CEO and President. Departments include Finance, Operations, Administration and Business Development.

Each residence has a Care Manager and an Administrator to manage day-to-day operations. All homes are staffed with licensed personnel who care for our residents.

We take a team approach to care. All decisions concerning residents are made in conjunction with the team and the family. This ensures a complete solution to all care needs for any person.

Executive Team

President and CEO: John Brewster, BSc PCPA

BHG incorporates founder John Brewster’s business savvy and knowledge of the Healthcare Services industry. It also reflects his personal philosophy that one person can make a difference, particularly if he works collectively with talented professionals who share similar values and work ethics.

John’s education and work experience pertain directly to the Brewster Healthcare Group. He is a licensed paramedic with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, Associate Degree in Healthcare Marketing, and has completed the Canadian Securities Course from the Canadian Securities Institute. John has worked in sales, marketing, public relations, and various levels of management. While managing a growing healthcare company, he is establishing networks and relationships with agencies and communities through Western Canada.

Considered a visionary with highly-developed leadership skills, John sets achievable and measurable short and long-term corporate goals. Brewster Healthcare Group is operating several locations within many communities, licensed with various health authorities and has family and resident satisfaction in mind in all aspects of business.

Regional Care Manager: Tammya Schwarz

Tammya Schwarz is a registered nurse in the U.S who began her  health care career more than 25 years ago. She began as a nursing assistant. Her experience spans from hospital staff R.N. to Director of Nursing in large long term care facilities. She has established, owned and operated two assisted living facilities of her own where she specialized in Alzheimers/ dementia care. She also worked for a time in home health care where she was a wound care specialist and was instrumental in developing wound  care protocols and treatments which vastly improved the healing time.Her compassion and caring nature make her an asset to both staff and residents alike.

Director of Information Technologies: Brad Johnson

Brad is responsible for all aspects of Information Technology at the Company. He brings a broad range of experience, technical skill and management capabilities to the position. Brad’s duties include supporting corporate administration and operations. In his 11+ years in IT, Brad held positions of increasing responsibility working as an information systems manager, a consultant and a network/system engineer.

Human Resources: Nick Melenimis, B.B.A

Nick’s commitment to caring is emphasized among the employees of Brewster Healthcare. Attending to the employee’s needs and supporting our homes with Human Resource tools. His background in the Service Industry collaborates directly with his degree in Human Resources Management, he is our service specialist. Nick is currently working on his Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) Designation.

“This 21 bed complex care facility in Penticton, BC fits nicely with our Licensed Residential Care model,” says John Brewster, President and owner of Brewster Healthcare. “and gives us an important presence in the South Okanagan.

Brewster Healthcare Group works within the framework of Interior Health Authority to provide family friendly, home-like care facilities for the elderly and the mentally challenged.

Lakeside becomes part of the Brewster Healthcare Group joining Laurier Manor, Springfield Care Center,Willowbrook Services for Community Living, Westridge Care Residence and Whispering Pines Care Residence.

The Brewster Healthcare Group Inc. of Kelowna, BC (http://www.BrewsterHealthCare.com) acquired Willowbrook Services for Community Living on July 15, 2009. This brings the number of Licensed Residential Care Homes for BHG to four.

“This 21 bed complex care facility in Coldstream, BC is a key piece to our growth strategy,” says John Brewster, President and owner of Brewster Healthcare. “Our long term goal is to be the facilities of choice in every community in which we operate.

“The facility is exactly in line with our policy of families being partners in care.”

The home serves the needs of mentally challenged individuals from the surrounding area.

No immediate changes in staffing levels or care programs are expected.
